Hello
I picked this Iron Cross up over the weekend and I have not seen anything like it before.
It is one piece construction.
I had no idea Knights Templar did things like this.
Anybody familiar with something like this?
I hope you all don't mind me posting this in the EK section
Thank you for your help.
Tony
I had never seen such a cross before so had a dig and found some information. I think it relates to St. John's Commandery #20 of the Knight's Templar, Youngstown. OH.
Youngstown OH has a large population of people with German ancestry and it looks like this type of cross was related to German veterans, freemasons, fraternal societies, German immigrants and culture before and at the turn of the last century.
An interesting Masonic piece. Though oddly the Teutonic cross design is associated historically not the Templars but that other Order, the Teutonic Knights.
