Article about: I have to disagree, the film it's self was a disappointment- I really like Ed Harris though

Hans Christian Blech played a brilliant part in 08/15, the film is well worth watching too!...

I am also a great admirer of Hans Christian Blech. He was a wonderful actor. The take away from this airy generalization is simple: Blech was an actor of some note prior to 1945, he was also a wounded veteran of the eastern front, and so, what one sees with him is hardly an imitation of an imitation of an imitation.

Wolfgang Preiss, brilliant as the U-Boat commander in the 1957 film Haie und kleine Fische, and played countless military roles through to Generalleutnant Max Pemsel in "The Longest Day" and von Rundstedt in "Bridge too Far"
I second the above. The Haie und kleine Fische is a wonderful film. Preiss was also the coward in Hunde, Wollt Ihr Ewig Leben?

la-grande-illusion-erich-von-stroheim.jpgWaltz is a very fine actor of the Vienna school, the master of which is also my hero, Eric von Stroheim, who merely brought to film the caricatures of military figures that were stock and trade of theater in Berlin and Vienna in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

I am also fond of the great Viktor de Kowa, in Zuckmayer's Des Teufels General.
