Re: The remains of an Allied soldier found near Caen
As he walked along a slope, a hunter discovered the skeleton of a soldier in World War II, on Sunday, November 11, at Herouville-Saint-Clair. The helmet was exposed on an embankment near the wood Lébisey. The police and an archaeologist from the Cultural Affairs went on site.
The soldier has not been identified yet. It is a fighting ally, which could be Canadian or English. His body was given to the association specializing in such matters, and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is currently seeking to determine his nationality.
Thanks for sharing this and hopefully they will be able to identify him or at least give him a proper burial.
Regards,
Jerry
