So I've been working on writing a book all month long, and I would like to have it done by the end of the year. It is an online book, but maybe later in life when I feel like it, and if I get good reviews online about it, I might print it. It's in very rough form right now, and I'm slowly making it better by tweaking things here and there and in some cases, completely overhauling some sections.

I designed the book cover myself. What are your thoughts on it?

Here is the introduction I wrote, probably to be edited some more later. Feel free to post your thoughts, I'd like to have feedback.

"This is my first "book" or rather story of any kind, either in print or on the internet. Some may wonder about the choice of subject, and this is what I shall explain in this introduction.

As I write this, America is in a dark state of existence, with racial tensions and political unrest at it's highest peak in my lifetime, and that of my parents. Stories about German soldiers were not generally accepted before all of this, but even now, writing something like this seems foolhardy. But what I must clear up is, that they were people too.

The word Nazi, has been used to lump Germans of that period into one category, and used to describe them as a people. However, the word Nazi comes from the German word for National Socialist Workers Party. America has political parties, right? Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, or whatnot. Not all of America is Republican, and not all of America is Democrat. Back then in Germany, not everyone was a voter of the National Socialist Workers Party either. But when Adolf Hitler (or Shitler as I personally like to call him) came to power, somehow everyone became Nazis, regardless of who supported him or not.

The story of the Holocaust is truly horrific, and must not be taken lightly or out of context. I do believe however that the story of the duping of the German people by the Devil incarnate is very sad as well. Being taught to hate someone blindly just because of their heritage was accomplished through a web of lies and propaganda being broadcasted from every source, infected the hearts and minds of many Germans, because as Josef Goebbels, Reich Propaganda Minister, once said: " If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Many did believe it. Many were fooled.

When war broke out in 1939, German propaganda stated that Poland had attacked Germans living in Poland, and used this lie as justification for invasion. Many thousands of young men rushed to the front, willing to serve the Fatherland and their Fuhrer. The Regular army men (Heer) were thrilled and excited about the victories they were accomplishing. Even in the fight with England and France, Hitler found a way to spin his web of deception into saying that England was at fault for all of this. What the vast majority of these Heer men didn't know, was that behind the advancing lines of the Blitzkrieg, worked the forces of true Evil. The SS.

The SS committed horrible atrocities and war crimes, that are often blamed on the regular army by people who do not know the real history of the war well enough. However the men of the Heer were often left in the dark, with no knowledge about what was happening behind the lines, except for unconfirmed rumors and murmurings. Some knew, and were internally bothered. However in the Eastern Front of Russia, the army was used as a tool of destruction, burning down villages, and even hunting down Jews for execution. However many of the regular army soldiers never participated in these atrocities.

Many of the soldiers were mere boys, just over 18 and ready for adventure and excitement and honor. The films they had watched in their youth back at home prepared them for the glory of victory, and convinced them that they were invincible, but when friends started to die, and atrocities began to surface, many lost confidence in the Reich, and only fought for the thought of loved ones back at home.

They were just like us. They had hopes. Dreams. Wives. Girlfriends. Children. Families. Homes. Fears. Hobbies. They talked of the wars end in their foxholes, and going back home to the end of all this madness. They talked of happier times. They mocked the diehards who still believed in a Thousand Year Reich.

In this story, I aim to show the human side of the German Regular Army soldier of WWII. Jan Bauer, who had just turned 18, was a supporter of Hitler and his ideas, until he saw them in action for himself out on the Eastern front. He sees the murders, the rapes, and the mass killings. His inner conscience is troubled, but he fights on because that is the thing that he is convinced is honorable to himself an for his country.

I hope that you at least enjoy the story, but come out with a better understanding that war ***** for everybody, on either side. The courage it takes to put on a uniform and run headlong into gunfire meant to end your life, should be admired by everyone, on any side. Everyone was a mothers son. Someones brother. Someones father. Someones sweetheart. Someone loved that boy as he went off to war. And he loved them back."

So obviously this is a fiction book, but it will be loosely based on real events and timelines. I believe the more I work on it, the more I can get it accurate.
