    De Fabriekswacht (hte factory guard).
Subtitle; Flemish volunteers in the LW.

Great book, made me understand how it exactly worked.
A quiet unique phenomenon among all collaborating movements over Europe during the war.

About a anti militarist, that started a non armed Flemish guard, ment to guard factory's and ended up with his men in Germany in a LW blue uniform,.... as a FLAK unit....

    Sadly only available in Flemish...

    Default Wir sind die Wolfskinder

Wir sind die Wolfskinder - We are the wolf children
Verlassen in Ostpreussen - Left behind in East-Prussia

A book about the thousands of children left behind in East-Prussia, unintentionally separated from their parents and families, when trying to escape the approaching red army.

Lots of them ended up in Baltic countries, their names and identities taken from them in order to remain unnoticed by soviet authorities. They couldn’t get any official education and most of them were illiterate even at old age.

Like the movie ‘der Untergang’ about the downfall of an empire but here seen from the perspective of the most vulnerable.

I read quite some books, but this one is devastating and heartbreaking beyond words.

It’s in German, so for me, being Dutch, readable but not an easy read.

    Kind regards
