Bears, atoms and spies. Surprising stories of the Cold War.
From the writer and popularizer of the WWII Pere Cardona, from Barcelona. A pleasant and well-documented portrait, about stories and protagonists of the Cold War. Highly recommended.

Sadly, now might be a good time to reread the Cold War...

    Regards

Default The Other Way Over ---

My wife's family are kin to Lieut. Cmdr. Albert C. "Puddy" Read, U.S.N. Cmd'g. Ofcr. of the US Navy's NC-4, the first aeroplane to complete the first trans-Atlantic flight, on May the 27th. 1919.

Their flying boat's 4000 mile trek occurred between Rockaway Beach, New York and a set down upon the Tagus river in Lisbon Portugal.

NC-4 is part of the collection belonging to the National Air & Space Museum and currently on loan to the Naval Aviation Museum, Pensacola, Florida.

Following restoration of NC-4 by the Smithsonian Institution, members of the family were presented with small squares of the plane's original fabric.
