    I don't know how old you are, friend...but when I was a youngster and didn't have a Stahlhelm, I got myself a Postwar German Fireman's Helmet and painted it up to look like a Wehrmacht lid, lol...Another option would be an original helmet in relic condition, as they are more affordable yet still look good enough to display...

    I would use a reproduction M35 or M42 and age it to look like a WWII helmet for display, plus they are not very expensive, so you could experiment and make a Normandy camo version or one with a chicken wire net.
