1 Marocco was Vichy French till the operation Torch in november 1942, and after The French North African government gradually became active in the Allied war effort, and was lead by the free french.
François Canasse was volonteer to join french army on on july 5th 1941 in Marseilles. Join the unity in Maroco on July 18th. Had a permission and was back to France in october 1942.
François Canasse was in France when operation Torch occured, maroco became then under free french rules. He has no other way to join Marocco illegaly by Spain where he was imprisoned. There was networks to help people to croos french spanish border to join Gibraltar.
Was at war from january 30th to june 22th in Italy. Was wounded on june 22th.
The document "brevet militaire" is in fact a driving licence.
Tipically what was calling (french) army from Africa was under Vichy rules till operation Torch, and then joined the Free French.
