My Uncle Joe

Here is a pic of my uncle Joe while attached to the 384thBG, 545th Bomb Squadron(B 17's) just prior to his flight with the Fioretti (Guy with the Killer mustache) crew on April 13th 1944 ,. They were shot down on the Schweinfurt raid and he spent the rest of the war as a POW at Stalag 17B near Krems Austria. 4KIA and 6 pows. The copilot Lt. Bush Upper right ,the Top Turret TSgt. Stuhl Lower right,Radio operator TSgt. Morton Upper left and the Ball turret TSgt Eyre 2nd on lower left were killed during the attack that lasted form 13:54 to 13:57 that day. My Uncle (passed in 1972) is 2nd lower right. and Phillip Chaeron was the left waist gunner is on the left of my uncle and who is still alive and sharp as a tack.He is the person that gave me this picture. God Bless Him and his service to our great Nation.
