This postcard was written by a recruit at Parris Island. The postcard is dated January 8th 1944. The front of the postcard says:

“Parris Island-Boots!

Dear, I won’t be home for another week- our platoons going on mess duty- this will be me!”.

The writing on the back is hard to make out due to it being previously glued down. But I will try to transcribe it later on.

This Marine recruit would have graduated soon after sending this post card. Throughout the next two years, aged, as well as fresh new Marines would participate is ferocious battles in the Pacific such as in Saipan, the Philippines, Iwo Jima, Okinawa amongst others. I’m unsure what became of the Marine who sent this Postcard to his family.
