    Very cool pic's Gary!!
    They were a short lived unit and were never dropped into combat.
    Great shot of the 5th Marine Div. patch and their wings.

    During WWII, the Army wings were the only authorized wings. The Navy gold-style wings were actually Parachute Rigger wings, but often worn by Marines who preferred their appearance and/or wished to stand out from the Army.

    Paramarine! by Chris Mason is a great reference book on the subject. Out of print for awhile now, but can usually be found on eBay
