I think much earlier, note the Obr35 Gyms and use of captured Polish arms.. 1941 or 42.

"Natalya Mykelin HOSU flying with the Night Witches ! "
I'd spell the surname like Meklin or Mecklin. In Russian it's Меклин.
Actually, here is the wiki info:

Great thread. I have read about the night witches before but I was wondering if anyone knows of any films made on the subject matter. I'd love to see a flick based on these female pilots.
There is the old Soviet film "В небе ночные ведьмы" (Night Witches in the sky) 1982. Try to find it anywhere.
Here, for example: http://www.fast-torrent.ru/film/v-ne...-and-quot.html
The film director is Evgenia Zhigulenko (Евгения Жигуленко). She was one of them. 968 combat flights before she turned 25. Pics are below.
There are a lot of beautiful girls in Russia. There are no such Heros now.

Thanks for all the new links everybody , no other country used so many women in combat roles so this is a big area of interest for me

I wonder if anyone has a reliable data not corrupted by the post-war propaganda. I am interested in losses among Russian women soldiers. Of course I could google for it, but some of the informations is duplicated between pages, even from old sources and it is difficult to obtain reliable data.
Here some pictures i got on my HDD (surce: various websites, don't remember exact URLs)
I'm asking again anybody got reliable data about causalities among female Russian soldiers during the WW2 ?
Hopefully some of our Russian members can provide you with these figures ??
