Default Trench knife. Good or bad?

Friend here in South Africa picked this one up and asked me about it. TBH, I don't know enough to say if it's real or later copy.
It has all the age and wear marks, but the maker logo is faint, and I am not sure if the direction of the grooves going towards the cutting edge only applies to Gottlieb Hammesfahr or all of them? If it is original, pity about the condition. Looks like the wood worms got hold of it.
Can anyone give their opinion, much appreciated.

    Default Original IMHO.

    Greetings,

Appears to have been retipped as well, IMHO, it and its scabbard are original to WWI period. I actually like the worm holes as that's not something that most would fake. Looks like the knife has had a long and useful life.

The knife is original. Probably unbranded Hugo Koller. The leather on the sheath is not original.

It looks like an original example by Hugo Koller.
Here is my example to compare.

Thanks all. I ended up purchasing this from my buddy, and am quite happy with it. Cleaned up quite well (just gentle dirt cleaning, I know very well not to touch patina, metal etc) and is now a nice representative piece in the collection until a better one comes along. Appreciate the advice.
