WW1 German sword or bayonet knot ID please

good afternoon, please see the attached photos of a sword or bayonet knot that I recently came across. I think its Imperial German as those are the colours at the end - sorry, not really into these things so the terminology might not be correct! It was originally silver in colour but is now dull and has black and red banding. Can anyone please say if this in fact German WW1 and what the colour represents.

It's Imperial...The colors indicate the Kingdom of Sachsen/Saxony...

thank you Glenn, that is much appreciated. Could I trouble you for thoughts on whether it was for a sword or a bayonet - the 'loop' is 21.25 inches to the top of the acorn. Dave

Sorry Guys, but Saxon Colors are Green & White.

Unless I am color blind, this looks black/red on the strap/cord, and black/silver(white)/red on the bottom of the knot, which would be the National Colors.

Wurttemburg's colors are Black & Red.

I believe this knot is for an Imperial German Navy sword. At 21.5" long I don't think it was used on a naval dagger.

Army & Cavalry sword knots have a flat strap (not round like this one has).
