    Default 1800's General Officer's Sabre.........

    1831 Pattern General Officers sabre.

    These swords were based on Middle Eastern/Persian designs and the style
    was influenced by the Duke of Wellington, who was fond of carrying
    a Mameluke hilted type. The etched blade carries crossed baton
    and sword with 'VR' cyphers, and the maker 'Firmin & Sons,
    Sword Cutlers to the Royal Family, 153 Strand, London'.
    The scabbard is of brass, the grips are ivory.


    I bought it 20 years ago.........

    Always loved those Mamluk type swords!
    I had several, but non at the momment, but it I know i can't ressist when seeing one.
