A nice collection you have there,I came to this thread after looking though the FS Knives thread and you mentioned the tyre slasher knife.
I picked up a knife very simlar to it at an antiques fair a couple of years ago,identical except there is no tyre slasher blade,and it was never made with one.
Any ideas as to what it is would be appreciated.

Gary, I have put below a picture of my tyre slashing knife and my post war civilian version. As you can see the post war one has a screwdriver blade with a sharpened recess half way up the screwdriver. This is for stripping the insulation from electrical wiring. This knife conforms to the military patters linesman jack knife, I do not know whether this knife is military issue as there is no "crows foot" stamped on it. The maker is Rowbotham and co.Sheffield, Ltd. I suspect that on the end of the war a fair stock of "chassis" for this shape of knife were in stock and were adapted into civilian knives. Yours John.

Thanks for taking the time to post the photos and reply to my question.My knife just has a single drop pointed blade,made by Nowill & Sons and what looks like the discharged from service broad arrows with a D underneath them.

Nice Knives.

May I ask you some questions about the All Metal Canoe Shaped Knife 1939 in the first pic.

Does it have any marks on it?

I am curious because I have some knives in my collection that I can not identify the manufacturer. I have posted pic's in other forums but have not been able to get any help.

I suspect it may be of Brit manufacture. I have several examples of the clasp knives made in Aus during WW2 and they are all dimensionally similar and all have copper or brass shackles. The knife in question is of slightly heavier construction and has a steel shackle.

I would appreciate any help you can give me.
