Default British No7 Mk1 Bayonet Markings

    Hi Gents,
My latest bayonet to add to my collection , Post war 45 - 48 No7 Mk1 Land Bayonet.
Have a look at the markings , I'm guessing Royal Ordnance Factory Poole
As there were only 4 post war manufacturers , sort of narrows down the options a bit.
Heres photos of all the markings I can find on it.
    Cheers Rick

Clean looking example. I've seen BSA and Elkington with sloppy/light manufacture markings but all the Poole ones I've seen have had clear markings.

Here is some photos of the bayonet ,
I really like this one , and when offered it , I had to have it.
I haven't seen too many for sale over the years and most that are , have with badly corroded blades or the Export "England" stamped grips , or the black grip ones imported from the US and with no scabbards or frogs.
Anyway this one is as Minty as I can get , so very happy. P44 frog dated 1946

Very keen to hear from anyone with info on the markings. I thought that the Poole markings were a P inside a circle ?

    Cheers Rick

Thanks mate , same here , I really don't know except that its got a P stamped on it in 2 places.
And yeah it really is sloppy work for such a nice blade.

    Rick,

Id certainly be happy to own your example. I've just reread British & Commonwealth Bayonets hoping to gain some insight. Doesn't have much on the No. 7 other than along with the four manufacturers, spare components were made by Surrey Precision Tool Works, BSA and Waterhouse (Manchester) Ltd. Yes Poole usually mark on the blade P within a circle and the year of manufacture.

    Great looking bayonet.
Interesting about the markings. I'll have to check mine.

Sorry I can't help with the marking , But just wanted to add that you picked up a VERY nice one.

I have one of the black handled ones I picked up maybe 30 years ago. I always thought that configuration was so unique. Bayonet/Fighting knife in one.
