Hello all, this knife was bought by my father today when I went out to look for a good helmet. It cost $150 I think that’s an okay price but not sure. I know little to nothing about these and all I can tell you is it’s a third pattern and was imported to America due to the ENGLAND stamps. He wants to know if it’s a war time production, That’s the only thing I can’t tell him, I also haven’t seen one without rivets in the scabbard. Someone at some point ground off parts of the handle I assume it’s one of those things where we’ll just never know why. Thank you for any help!

    Cheers,
    Bodhi

All looks good to me. The /l\ 8 stamp on the handle is a known late war inspection mark.
The scabbard would have originally had an elastic band near the top
to hold the knife but these are frequently missing.

No idea about the ground handle.

The alloy hilt is a "4" casting which is the only one where the maker is known with any confidence, being Wolverhampton Die Casting Company. They were know to supply Wilkinson and other blade makers.
