    Never have heard or seen. Pretty cool if correct.

    According to Graham Priest's book 'Spirit of the Pike, British Socket Bayonets of the Twentieth Century' (the bible on bayonets for the No4 rifle) it was a Canadian design for Colour parties to prevent the bayonet catching on the colour and ripping it.
