I believe this could be a 'first pattern' with rounded point, with the tip
further modified, and the bayonet made into a knife. Definitely needs
some work. It might be possible to find grip panels........

Yes, it IS rough - as well, it's missing the spring clip assembly. If you're careful,
the chipped/bent areas can be filed off, and the blade re-sharpened.
I suspect the original grips were taken off to put onto another
piece, or to sell separately.........

honestly it hurt me to see a knife that was so terribly abused it looks like they hammered on the end of the handle cuz its all mushroomed and the blade was dented and folded in a few places

I made the the grips out of some spruce i had by hand with a razorblade
very nice restoration job you have done on the bayonet at least you where able to preserve it !!
