    Isn't the USM8a a postwar scabbard?

Yes i believe so, but this is what it arrived with, M6 scabbards are like hens teeth here and i am not sure if they were issued with 3rd pattern knifes which were produced from late 43, until july 44 i think. i need the m8 early scabbard for it to be correct.

If anyone spots a m8 scabbard give me a nudge please.

Indeed, you need to find a standard M8 without the chape, and with
a belt wire. M3's are my favorite WWII blades.........

    Greatwhite,
I'm old enough to remember when M3s were considered common place
and prices were cheap. Those days are long gone.

Here is a picture of mine and if you are interested in US knives, a link to some
    of my US fighters.------

Some great blades you have there.

Agree with Greg, remember these (especially the post war garands) at the local surplus stores for next to nothing....if I only knew....

Might as well post mine as well. Picked up the one below 20 years ago
at the "U.S. Military Edged Weapon Museum" in Intercourse,
Pennsylvania. It is an unissued guard marked late type.
Following that, is an early blade marked and dated
piece - without the belt wire on the scabbard.

One of my favourite knife designs. The photos though,
are nowhere near as nice as Gregs.........!
