Hi all,
Australian Utility Knife AUK. These were made as a GP knife with killing properties for service in the Pacific.
This is a Whittinglowe Adelaide South Australia made example with others being constructed by Greg Steel and East Brothers.
The knife was designed due to a request by the OC of the 2/3rd Independent Company who was seeking a utility/fighting knife for use by these units but was mainly issued to US troops on a US Army contract.



Whilst not rare they are not to easy to obtain in this country as most ended up in the US post war.

The I under the pheon is an inspectors mark and has no relationship with India.

The one I posted is an Effingham marked blade, making it sometime in the mid '90s.
