This is a pretty interesting little piece of history, just delivered to me from Ukraine. On first inspection it's a common Soviet map case, but upon opening it and looking at the maker's mark, it bears an ink stamp for the German manufacturer 'A. Kleinwächter & Co', and a date of 1949 as well as the usual Soviet stamp (also dated 1949, though quite faint). This is one of many pieces of equipment manufactured in the DDR, on behalf of the Soviet Union, as part of German war reparations.
