Now that is an extremely interesting thing... What German buckles were made from brass though? You should show this to the buckle guys in the Third Reich section Paul.

Millions of German buckles were made of brass. Once the Red Army began crossing into German territory in East Prussia or occupied areas the Soviet soldier would have encountered the array of Nazi matrerail including heaps of SA, NSBO, Fire Department, Hunting, occupational, civil organizations and other earlier brass buckle models, even old Imperial. There have been many posts of photos showing Russian troops sporting SA daggers, etc.
Interestingly, the various ethnic German communities in Eastern countries had their own specific NSDAP organizations, often outfitted with obsolete material as shown in these photos of Romanian Germans. They are wearing old DJ buckles.
