Two Red Army Compasses 1940 and 1941

First compass was manufactured at the Red Army Artillery Workshops in 1940

The second compass was manufactured at the ZUP factory in 1941

Just need some maps and cases now

Good question and the answer can be given when in hands I guess. My guess is that it would be held in the mapcase rather than on the wrist. Can't remember having seen any period pics of that unfortunately. I do have this pic saved on my laptop from a wristcompass in wear:
