1944 and 1945 mess kits

Greetings. Here are two mess kits saved from the trash heap. 1944 & '45 dates. I opened them up and found the items inside but, of course, I have no idea if they are original to the kit or if they are original to the period (except for the dated 1945 cutlery). I'm sure these are as common as house flies but I was still excited to hear the "I'm going to throw these out. Do you want them?" sentence.
