That's great. It looks basic but at the same time difficult to use.

They developed for use near the poles where a normal compass suffers from the magnetism, also used in the desert.

...what ever it's value...I think this is a great looking piece of kit. I'd love to "have a go on it"! ;-)
Presumably it's all serial-numbered-up and knowing the MOD you may be able to track it back to (hopefully) that V-Bomber wing......or, knowing my luck, an Avro Anson!
