    Hello!

In the last year I managed to destroy three fancy bags, so today I went to a second hand army store and bought a yellowish robust looking bag. I know nothing about army gear, but the shopkeeper told me that this bag had belonged to a british army soldier who fought in WWII.
Now that I own a bag nearly triple my age, I'm curious about it's history. Google told me that this type of bag was issued to every british soldier as part of their standard gear. On mine there are some inscriptions and I'd like to know what they mean:

On the large strap there are two printed lines:
    ?.E.F. 1943
    H↑27

On the upper part of the front there are another two lines, the first printed in Italics:

    Bata.1943
    H↑86

I'd be very grateful if someone could help me to understand these inscriptions or maybe point out where I could look for an answer. I'l include a foto of the type of bag (unfortunately my camera is broken, so I don't have one of my bag.)

    Thank you very much,

    Nanna
