Article about: Hi' Guys, Picked this up today,only for the standard of workmanship. Opinions would be great. No visible markings to the leather. British WWI ??

    Its very nice but I would expect to see a British acceptance stamp if it were British military. Possibly private purchase or foreign?

    I'd agree that its probably not british military issue. I'm pretty sure we never had a digging impliment in that shape and size, and i haven't heard of a cavalry digging implement. The leather and rivets do look similar to british issue items, but i havent seen a staple and tab lock like that.
    Depending on its size it could be for carrying spare horse shoe(s).
    Fox hunting kit or private purchase.

    Very nice and I'd like to be wrong!
