I had one like this some years and it was for a sniper scope so yours could be for one also ?

It's most likely for a sight from either an Artillery piece or an armoured vehicle.

I have the 75mm gunsight for a Churchill/Cromwell tank, and it’s 44cm long in all, so far too large. I’ve also got a 6-Pounder anti-tank gunsight, and that’s a lot shorter, but at 34cm is still too long for this pouch.

Is it possible this pouch could have been used for storing rolled maps in a field headquarters? That would explain the lack of buckles or belt loops.

Hey Rene, It is missing the shoulder strap but Kradman is correct it is a late war Australian sniper scope pouch.
