Most definitely from the officer's mess with that gilded trim.
The plain ones must be the enlisted version.
Would that be correct?
They do look very nice Rick.
Is there a way to date them?

Nice Rick,
Here's an AMF one I have for comparison.
It appears Rene, the Aussie Defence budget for egg cups rather favours the Air Force!
I must find myself an egg cup one day!
Is there a way to date them? The egg cups are all Kings Crown so pre 1953 and possibly WWII. The blue insignia amongst my plates are Queens Crown. Often dates were applied from the 1960's.
Anything on the bases of yours Rick?
Glad you asked mate ,
No both sets are unmarked underneath - see photos.

I have had in the past British made ones in poorer condition before of the Enlisted Mess type & they are marked underneath .
The Officer Mess set I took to a quality dealer in Vintage China items for a look at & see.
Straight away she said 30's-40's not knowing anything about military markings , based on the high quality and weight of item.
And they are heavy in your hand compared to the size of them.
Why they are unmarked is unknown , but people much wiser than me have said that's a good thing not a bad thing.
Cheers Rick
I have a pair of AMF coffee cups & saucers , hard to find nice AMF items these days.
I like to pick up things in pairs if I can , looks better in my China Cabinet .
