RAF Emergency Flying Ration MKII tins
Article about: The back stamp is OK. But always check for any tampering to the front to see if any date has been removed. I guess you are interested as I have seen the one for sale too. That one looks fine

Could you help me with this one Ade
My friend dug and gave this to me
cheers
John
I have just acquired an unopened emergency Mk, IV ration tin (1964).
Can I ask if your friend was a metal detectorist? I have sent you a PM, but as yet no reply. I would like to use one of those pictures in a short article I intend writing. Please advise.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.
Yes, the MK III was issued in 1945.
Cheers, Ade.

Re: RAF Emergency Flying Ration MKII tins
Very interesting, I have some of those ration tins still full with the original contents packed into my K-Type Dingy Pack. I would put up a picture but I need to unpack the dingy to get to it, if there is enough interest to justify smelling of rubber & talc then I will find it out.

Re: RAF Emergency Flying Ration MKII tins
I know on the later 1950s Mark 3 rations the packing date was stamped on the front in the same manner as the rest of the labeling. I have seen cans that were supposed to be from WW2 recently. They were stamped on the back side with what looks like a rubber stamp. Usually just the numbers like 4/45 Does this sound correct or are later era tins being modified? Thanks
