    These chits were carried by RAF aircrew, and in the event they were shot down, could be presented to local civilians they might stumble across. On the top row in the middle, you can see the message in English. It's repeated in various languages in order to circumvent any possible communication issues, and allow a downed airman to explain himself and seek assistance without having to speak the local language.

    Also known as “goolie chits”, goolie being an English slang term for male genitalia. Apparently during the Anglo-Afghan wars the women would behead and castrate non Muslim soldiers who were captured, like the British and Sikhs.
    The Americans also had their own chits as well as joint designs with the British with only the flag changing. I’m not aware of any other nations having them.
    They were produced for several areas of conflict - I have shown various varieties in this thread:
