This refers to Stellvertretendes Generalkommando IX. Armeekorps. Mobilised on 26th August 1939 in Kassel, Wehrkreis IX. I think it is original.
So is this a command group that was assigned units? When I looked it up it seems like divisions are assigned to the group? Is that correct? Or is it just another name for the iX Corps?
Thanks
I believe it was a staff unit that oversaw units within Wehrkreis IX. It was not a combat unit and was later transferred to the 11th Armee before being eliminated in the Harz mountains at the wars end. It's an unusual one.
Thanks, that great. So it was a district command that was assigned units during the war. Makes sense. When I looked up the command, there were numerous different units assigned to it at different times. Low number could mean part of the original staff. Thanks again.
