Fake?
Fake?
A good one. Panzer-Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung 81 was formerly known as Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung (mot.) 81. The unit originally came into existence on 26th August 1939 in Weimar, Wehrkreis IX. This one belongs to 1 Kompanie.
Thanks for your reply. Not an odd shape and material?
Behind the 81 appears to be an n. Does anyone know what this might stand for? I would think 'neu' myself but that's just guessing.
And as said by BC, a nice original. Nothing wrong with the shape or material.

Nice tag! Here the link: Panzer-Nachrichten-Ersatz-Abteilung 81 - Lexikon der Wehrmacht
Due to the unit designation this tag was issued earliest in October 1942 of course.
Most likely the soldier was transferred to Panzer Nachrichten Ausbildungs Abteilung 81.
As per the link the Ausbildungs Abteilung was formed by splitting the Ersatz Abteilung.
And therefore the letters "n A" (Nachrichten? Ausbildung) were added later.
I assumed the A was the bloodtype but thanks to your explanation I now know it is actually n A and what that stand for. Thank you Austrian
