This dogtag was find in East Prussia - 7/ F.R. 22 (Fusilier-Regiment 22)
The regiment was formed on November 12, 1942 on the basis of the 22nd East Prussian Gumbinn Infantry Regiment at a time when the infantry regiments of the Wehrmacht were renamed Grenadiers. At the same time, the name "fusilier" was assigned to only nine regiments in the Wehrmacht. This 22nd regiment was the very first to receive such a name. The regiment became part of the 1st Infantry Division of the Wehrmacht (1 infanterie division). All fusilier regiments, including this 22nd, were reconnaissance formations in their divisions, and such a name was only a tribute to military tradition. From the moment of formation until the summer of 1944, the regiment fought in the Leningrad region, then was transferred to Western Ukraine, and from September 1944 to April 1945, the regiment as part of its 1st Infantry Division fought in East Prussia, where it was defeated during the defense of Pillau.
