    Sdesic,

Looks to be a very rare tag from: Waffen-Gebirgsjäger-Regiment der SS 28,

    Lexikon der Wehrmacht - SS-Gebirgsjäger-Regimenter

The link will answer some of your questions. What part of the world did you find it in? (what country)

The half could be either. You cannot get information about the soldier unless you are a direct relative.

    Cheers

Looks like some soldier no longer has his ID with him anymore...

There are many reasons why that half might be found. They were cast off by SS men at the end of the war and Russians exhumed soldiers to take them.

I'm not so sure, the '20' can't represent kompanie, as there were no more than 13 or sometimes 14 kompanien in a regiment.

I am in Bosnia and Herzegovina - part of former Yugoslavia.
Partisans were liberating our town for second time in 1944 and there were fighting.
I have one more lead for this... local farmer in 80s was digging water drainage and found some bones
(later examination ID them as German soldier)

(we were under Croatian rule from 1941-1944)
