Thanks for the Opinions guys! I took the chance and bought it, together with a haul of other items supposedly from the same person - which of course is just a story, still nice items.

    Original Erkennungsmarke?

Any Infos on the Unit he served in? It would have been the third Company of the "Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 468" i assume?

The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

You are right with the ID, 3 Kompanie of Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 468. Difficult to say for sure if all items belong together. Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 468 supplied replacements to the 268th Infantry Division, who spent most of the war on the Eastern front, assuming the owner did go into the 268th. The American mess tin lid might have been found somewhere else. Nice collection of items.

Yeah, its hard to say if they belong together, one of the pieces is named though, to a G. Marx. In general they where nice Items for a good price, so i got them. As always, never buy bc of the story.
