That's pretty cool Chris- it's not so often one knows just where a disc came from, and then to have the 'paper' information match perfectly. The use of the term Infanterie shows the disc was issued prior to October 1942 when that changed to Grenadier, and the low roll number suggests it was rather earlier since the IEB412 was created in 1939. I'd bet this guy was there for the invasion so would have been in Wolchow, and then Leningrad long before Narwa...
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
Awesome Chris/Paul. A nice disc to an interesting unit and area too!
Thanks for the comments guys.
Matt it seems that the owner was blessed to survive long enough. He participated in fierce battles in Russia and he even made it back to defend Narva.
Thanks for the extra info on the unit.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Thanks for the details Paul
