In both cases: Condor veterans and members of the Blue Division, those medals won in Spain were mixed with the German ones won during WWII.
The medals won by the Germans from the Condor in Spain were, fundamentally, three:

The Individual Military Medal (for acts of special heroism)

The first two, together, were awarded on numerous occasions

The Spanish style suspension bar of the decorations worn by the Condor Legion veterans was replaced, already in Germany, by other German-style "ordensspange"

But the strict German rules on the order of the medals were respected without exception.

So any medal bar or ribbon bar in which the Spanish decorations are at the end of it, belongs to a German decorated in Spain during our Civil War.

    RIBBON BAR with EK2

The 1936-1939 Campaign Medal & The Military Merit Medal, with a Red badge (wartime)
This are the two medals that this German soldier looks curiously at on the Spanish soldier's uniform

    In conclusion:
A medal bar or ribbon bar in which the ribbons of the Spanish medals are placed at the end: it belongs to a veteran of the Condor Legion.

A more disorganized medal bar or ribbon bar without a defined ribbon order: it belongs to a member of the Blue Division.

I think I can sum up my thesis, saying that the Spanish were more disorganized and less careful with their uniforms than their German comrades ... but they were just as brave.

By the way, I am going to tell you an anecdote that is not very well known. That German fashion of wearing the ribbon of his medals in the buttonhole of his uniform jacket; did not like the Spanish soldiers very much. They said it was like wearing half medals ...

That is why in Spain, they always wore their EK2 or KvK with the ribbon in the buttonhole, but with the full size medal as well.

This is an interesting thread, I thought about collecting Spanish Civil War medals as I have a small collection of 7,92 ammo used in the war, but decided to collect the WWI Victory medal in all its forms. So now it has sparked my interest again.....thank you....paul
