From this photo I would say it is original. Looks to be aluminum. I usualy prefer straight on photos from the front and back, but looking at it I am confident enough with this one.

Taken from the list you supplied, does that mean the camps mentioned were manned but this unit or their soldiers were just posted to the camps. If that is the case would they have kept their tag until they lost it, and would not have had the tag of the unit who were guarding the camps.... paul.

Hi Paul,
You are on the right track. The unit from the OP's post provided the men for all those units. When they were transfered to one of the units they kept their original erkennungsmarke. The soldier also had his Soldbuch, in here they wrote down his EKM but also the units the soldier served in or was transfered to.
