Stab = staff. a.r artillerie regiment frw = freiwillige =voluntary b i =I thought is the rank of the officer
But I'm not sure. Wait for others to answer. There are people here who can tell you for sure.
I think you hit it, in your reply?
Appears to belong to a volunteer in the Stabs of the I Abteilung of Artillerie Rgt 60;
Artillerie-Regiment 60 - Lexikon der Wehrmacht
There were two Abteilung each with 3 Batteries, the link above will illustrate for you.
Thanks a lot for the help, friends.
It exactly means Stabs Batterie/I.Abteilung Art. Rgt. 60 Freiwilliger=Volunteer from Russia or Ukrain.
Hello. What indicates that the volunteer is from Russia or Ukraine? This ID disc is found in the Courland pocket. I assume that the area I usually visit is where the 60th Artillery Regiment was destroyed in February 1945. I found four 81mm Gr.W.34 baseplates and many other war items in this area. The battles have been horrific in this place. I found this id disc just a few meters from place where the soviet SU-76 was destroyed.
Well that's interesting. The ekm is stamped with StabsB, what made me think of Stabsbatterie too. Is this a mistake on the ekm or does the B next to Stabs stand for something else?
