The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
Yeah, what a joke LOL Sorry, but that is not how a real disc would be marked- 'Panzergrenadier' was a term introduced mid-way through the war, so only a soldier who'd lost his original disc would have one marked to this field unit. Soldiers normally had discs marked to whatever replacement unit they entered the service- for a Panzergrenadier who joined after April, 1943, would be: SS-Pz.Gren.A.u E. Btl. 1 (exactly like that- no dot after the 'u'); if he joined prior to that date, it'd be the LAH's main replacement unit- one I had in my collection read 2./ E-LAH.
Ohhhhh- pillage then burn...
FYI....The item did not sell. Ebay ended the auction, because it violated their selling policy. If the "SS" Tab was not in the picture it would of been ok. I still have it.
Oh yeah, you asked about the authenticity of this one a while back... I'd forgotten...
