Not easy to make out, but I think I see a Pi rather than an F. This would be Pioniere, but I'm currently at a loss for CM? Z - Zug would make sense?

This is a play of light. There is definitely F. and there is no i., just after F. there is a rhombic point in the middle and an ordinary point at the bottom, that's why it appears - i.
I am confused by the letter C.

It might be worth saying at this point that similar tags were used to mark telephone cables, so this might well be what the F is for - Fernsprecher.

There are many options on this topic, it can be Feld and Festungs, etc.
But then there is a completely riddle with the letter C., I have never seen on German tags, military units or specialties starting with this letter.
The tag was found at the site of the Brusilov breakthrough in 1916

Certainly a bit of a mystery, I've not seen anything similar before either.
