IMO it seems to be a modern commemorative badge for veterans. The symbol refers to the 20th waffen gren. div. or the Finnish boys.

It is at least 20-30 years "modern" then:-) Is there someone who know what this badge is. And no Loco, it has nothing to do with the finns, that symbol is different, so why do you suggest that it is modern when you not even know the difference between the estonian symbol and the finnish?.

Estonian independance is only from a early 90's- it cannot be elder than 20 years. "Finnish boys" is the peoples who was hidden from the Soviet and German occupation in Finnland, and during the war was mobilised to the Finnish army, after the Finnland has gone from the war in 1944, the illegal imigrants was send back to home, due of no needs to use them for military purposes ( That was not only Estonians). And a hudge ammount of the war prisoners was sent back too, ( Soviets - partially the Soviet POW's was served in the Finnish army as a supply troops) who was immediately mobilised to the Red army and send as a penal troops to the death.
The "Finnish guys" arrive home in the old worn uniforms, due of a good uniforms and equipment was taked back by Finns.
The order from admiral Pitkä ( ex Estonian Admiral, who came back after the Soviets was gone in 1941, he've take a part in the political connection between the 3 Reich and Estonian peoples) has been mistakely made, which was sent about a 15000 thousands of Estonians to the death. The order was:- all the peoples who can keep the guns in the hands must go and stay against bolschewiks.
Realy most part of the Grenzschuetzen regiments, which was builded from the "Finnish Guys- Suomen Poikad" became a bad supply with a weapons, uniforms and foods, and that was a second sign for them ( the first sign is the Finnland was discontinued the war with USSR, and didn't care about them, and that was the payment for their service- to send them back. In that time the soviet troops arrive the border with Estonia, and most part of the peoples, did understood who will be the winner in this game, if the deep rear was became a frontline) and most part of them deserted and safely arrive home.

Very interesting information Dimas, I did not know that. Here in Norway the the veterans of WSS never forgave the finns for turning their guns and shooting at them in 1944. Imagine that you have risked your life and seen your comrades die for the cause of a free Finland and then suddenly they turn their guns at you...Kameradenschaft?

Hilton what i think Loco means is that the "Finnish " boys were Estonians who fought as IR 200 in the Finnish Army until they returned to Estonia on 19/8/44 whereupon they became III Btl Waffen Grenadier Regt der SS 46 part of the 20th Estonian SS Division , they fought in Southern Estonia around Tartu.

I'm not an expert but this badge can be also made by Estonian emigrants after 1945 in Sweeden, USA or Canada. There still are Estonian veteran organizations in these countries. Symbol belongs to 20-th SS div. and is also widely used among vets in Estonia so this badge can be made also in 1990-ies.

That's a fascinating photo - the veteran is wearing the blazer badge for what I assume is predominantly for those who fought against Germany and Japan (it has the queen's crown on it). He is wearing his wartime German decorations - including the somewhat notorious anti-partisan badge - and what I assume are Estonian decorations.
