Default Pocketless M43 Gym with Tushonka Buttons

I thought forum members might be interested in some pictures of my pocketless M43 Gymnastiorka (believed genuine, tell me if you think otherwise).

I long had doubts about the buttons; they are unusual.

Recently scanning the internet, I noticed the yellowish tin sheen was similar to lend lease Tushonka cans.

I looked on the back of the buttons and found '..ked Po..' (cooked Pork?) and '...ON C...' (Ration Contents?)

It seems the buttons were made from lend lease tin cans!

As seen in this thread: Soviet 1940-41 year meat ration

    Has anyone seen this before?

A great tunic, and in such good condition too! I find just something so iconic in those buttons in regards to the WW2 soviet war machine - just making anything out of everything to get the job done. Cheers for sharing

I have a similar one of those buttons. I posted it some years ago in a thread named BUTTONS, BUTTONS & BUTTONS. I think it was Mike Baskette that pointed it out.

Anyway, very nice gym and those buttons make it even nicer!

Very nice tunic! These buttons reminds that Soviets used everything what they had during WWII and how bad was their supply situation.
