Default 1870 EKII with 25 year Jubilee Oaks

This just arrived in the mail yesterday after being delayed for a week due to Hurricane Isaias.

A nice 1870 EKII with silk ribbon and 25 year Jubilee Oaks.

A big thanks to Chopperman for helping me with this purchase and the education.

Maker is A. Werner & Sohne of Berlin (AWS). Probably made ~1890's which is a match for my 1891 Officers Pickelhaub.

Frame is made with an Alloy (Non Silver) which is typical for this maker.

Original silk ribbon but it has lost it's white stripes (these ware "applied" to the silk and are not separate threads).

    Enjoy!

A couple sets of photos. One with white background and another with red.

    Michael,
I'm glad that I could help you out with this as it is a wonderful
    example of a 1870 Ek2.

    Thanks Greg.

While my understanding of these is still less than zero, I can certainly see why you like these. Figuring out if I should get an EK1 version with all those cool reverse attachment variations or.....an 1813 version

I guess these must be boring or this section gets little traffic LoL.

While 1870 2nd class crosses are fairly common and not
overly expensive. Original 1st class versions will cost you alot more.
Roughly speaking, they would start at about 6 times what you paid for your
2nd class and only go up from there. 2nd class 1813s are not too difficult to
find but good luck trying to find an original 1813 1st class. Extremely rare and
    extremely expensive.

I don't know where all of the cross guys have gone. It's been pretty quite
    here lately.

Thanks Greg. I'll have to play it by ear. Awards always find me. Rarely do I find them when I'm looking

But with those price levels, I'll stick to 2nd class examples

Seems that most of what I want now is either hard to find or expensive. But to be expected after all these years of collection, I.e. the cheaper and easier to find items I already have. LoL
