Maybe someone has an opinion..
Thanks!

My best guess is that it's a P&L ( Petz & Lorenz )
I have this picture of a P&L 2nd class in my files and a couple
pictures of a 1st class for you to compare against. These are just
pictures I've saved from other discussions. I do not own a P&L to
really do a close up study of.

Thanks for the opinion Choperman, the manufacturer is right..why would the core be golden?

Since the frame is also the same colour, it looks like someone has either painted it, or chemically treated it to stop it rusting
IMO, some form of chemical cleaning.

Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
I've see some of these style crosses with a lot of paint loss.
I suspect that the paint may have been coming off this one and someone
chemically removed all of the remaining paint.
You can still see the remains of the original paint in the details of the crown
and a little bit in the 9 and 4 of the date.
