I haven't commented on this thread until now but, I don't like the appearance of the wood on this example.
The color and texture appear off to me.
If I saw this one up for sale, I would not pursue it.
As well as what the others have posted.

Let's compare apples to apples, that is oak. In 1916 the German army went from walnut, oak, and birch, according to availability (G98 collectors see this in the stocks, either walnut or birch).
