Hi Georg, first, great collection, i too collect just, Imperial German upto 1918, makes a change from the ' Third Reich boys ' !.... your 1879 i.d. tag ' 2 E.B. 2.G.F.A.R. 27 ' reads as, ' 2nd Ersatz (replacement) Battalion, 2nd Guards Field Artillery Regiment. which is the 2 Garde-Feldartillerie-Regt (Potsdam) Garde-Korps. . 27 is the mans individual number. That of course if ive read it right !...im still waiting for my new glasses!
A nice collection it is. I specially like the (strange) camo's you have there...

Thank you for the information, have some others German ID tags, which I can’t read is there any on line or books which would help me read the tags?
